  1. Je me suis également renseigné auprès de Spearfishing ADVENTURES. J ai eu cette réponses. Hi Christophe! First of all sorry if I’m answering late but I’ve been super busy and I was waiting some answers before being able to write you this email about Madagascar… We’ve done trips to Madagascar over the years but during last trip we found the perfect formula and visited some really amazing places. Service and logistics was five-star. BOATS, LODGING AND LOGISTICS It is mainly a live-aboard trip. We will sleep on a beautiful 56 foot catamaran yacht (9.5 meters wide) with 4 double cabins and 4 bathrooms, the food and the chef are just incredible and the yacht is very comfortable. In addition to the yacht we will have a speed catamaran (11 meters long) with twin 100hp Yamaha outboards, with a cruising speed of 18 knots. This boat is perfect for spearfishing, two people can go in the water simultaneously and there is lot of room for the equipment. There is a sheltered spot for when the sun is too heavy and it also has table and seats, which is perfect for lunch or nap ? The captain drives from the fly. This boat is also equipped with tuna-tubes which are perfect for keeping alive bonitos or skipjacks and then use them to attract the doggies from the depths. (pictures of the two cats attached) The good thing about this set up is that we will never travel on the yacht. We will do all our travelling on the speed cat, go diving, and once we are done we’ll meet with the yacht on the spot where we will pass the night. This way we will never loose time in travelling, resulting in much more hours in the water for us. We will also sleep one or two nights inland in a really beautiful beach resort. The rooms are very nice and it is perfectly located in Nosy Be. (picture attached) TRIP OPTIONS As for the trip, we have two options: Option 1 - Cruising to the northern tip of Madagascar (to Courrier Bay) Option 2 - Castor Bank & Leven Bank The first option is what we did in December. It is truly an amazing trip with, rock islands, banks, disappearing sandy islets and incredible reefs. Also amazing landscapes, with basaltic rocks and baobab trees. This place is so remote and virtually untouched, we’ve seen nobody for the entire week. You can tell it is a very alive sea, lots and lots of baits always around. So spearfishing is amazing overe there but not easy. Moving so much, and diving every day on a different spot, does not give you te opportunity to really focus on the spots. Also the areas are huge and the fish can spread around a lot. Though monster Doggies inhabit this places the type of trip, which is continuously on the move, makes it not very easy finding them and we will have to work our butt off to get some nice fish. The visibility in these areas changes a lot so it can be very clear or dirty. The trip we did last December was in total 400 nautical miles, we also dived the Castor Bank on a day trip with the speed cat , which is 100 nm to go back and forth. This trip is also suitable for non-divers, they will totally love it. Option 2 is much less travelling and much more diving! It is focused on the same area, and in general here we have the best opportunity on trophy fish! The Castor Bank and the Leven Bank are some of the most fabled spots of Madagascar. The two banks are actually together and they make a big platform made of deeper and shallower spots 50 nautical miles off-shore. In total it is an area of 50nm by 15nm. But we will work the areas that are mostly hit by the current. Of course during this trip we will stay offshore without land in view, so it is not as scenographic as the other option but it is probably the best for spearfishing. The visibility here is always good and the fish concentrate in smaller areas. And if we stay one or two nights inland we still have the opportunity to see something of this really amazing place. This trip I would say it’s not for non-divers, but on the other side it’s the trip for passionate spearos! If we do this trip and the weather is good we might have the opportunity one day to visit the Intermediary Bank which is a spot that in good conditions can hold real monsters. 100+ kilos Dogies have been sight here. PRICE The price is 3400 € per person. It will be an all inclusive package so the yacht, boat, resort, transfers, fuel, meals, drinks, etc. are all included. The only things that are not included are the flights. All the rest is in the package. It is generally week with 6 full days of diving, from sunrise to sunset. I say a week because generally flights are once week, but if we find alternatives we can adjust our plans. We also have cheaper option, that are made of just day trips or a mix of a couple of days in live-aboard + day trips, but the above is the best set up. This year we’ll be doing one or two trips in October. Let me know what you think about it! Thanks again and all the best, Andrea
